Is it a pimple or sty?

My 15 y/o has a huge pimple or sty on her upper eyelid. It looks like a whitehead and I was wondering if there is some thing we can do to go down or remove? It looks painful and she says it bothers her. I wanted to take her to doctor and see if they could lance it... seeing that its right on the top of her eyelid not sure if that would be safe. Any suggestions would be appreciated.|||it sounds like a stye. i would put a warm washcloth over it. there really isnt anything u can do to make it go away, (over the counter that is) it will go by itself. if he has contacts, make sure to throw them away and wear a new pair because those might be infected.|||You can wash it with Eye Wash. Make sure it contains Boric Acid, they usually go away within 48 hours of use. Make sure she does not touch it. Best wishes!!
